From Eldritch Wiki
Welcome to the Eldritch Staff page. Here is where you can learn a little bit about how staff on Eldritch MUSH operate, what areas staff duties are separated into, and who your friendly neighborhood staff are.

Staff Areas
Eldritch staff are broken into four component areas of focus on the game. Most
staffers have a primary area of focus and a secondary area of focus. This is to
ensure that all areas of the game can still function, even in the absence of
one or more staffers. See the files below for informaton on the focus areas.
Code
Code Staff is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and
removal of the game's softcode and updating the game's hardcode. Code staff
is also responsible for maintaining the code which configures the game's backups, and dealing with site
issues. If a +command is acting weird, they're the ones who will fix it. If
there's a database problem, they're the ones that will deal with it. They have
almost no direct contact with the playerbase as staff but this is alright.
The players probably don't want to talk to folks that live on pop-tarts and
Jolt Cola.
Systems
Eldritch MUSH has an extensive repository of features and information which maintains game consistency and useability. This includes things such as the bulletin board and Anomaly Jobs systems, channels, the internet components (Eldritch Wiki, Eldritch Forums, and Eldritch Livejournal Community), +new, help, and +help files, the census, the org systems, and storing daily/weekly backups of the game, wiki, and forums. As information changes, is added, or is removed from any of these repositories, the Systems staff is responsible for these updates, and maintaining consistency across the areas this information is repeated. They are also responsible for all building requests, and with the tasks of assigning jobs to staff and managing the empowering of staff bits. They can be considered somewhat of the business or project manager of the game.
Theme
Plots, stories, trait-approvals, and game mechanics all fall under the powerful
purview of the Theme Division. At Eldritch MUSH, we believe that a good game
needs good stories to be told, not just stories offered by the Staff in which
players participate, but also stories of a more personal nature, told between
players; and stories directed by talented players who have decided to step up
to the mantle of Narrator to lead their fellow participants on strange
adventures. Of course, Theme Staff takes care of running the main plot, as well
as sub-plots of a less continuous variety; but we're also here to help you, the
player, understand the game and work on character development. We offer to help
brainstorm ideas for plots, work on fleshing out your character's background
in-game, and we're also here to provide insight as to the game mechanics and
overarching theme. Don't hesitate to call on us, we're here to help.
Public Relations
Public Relations doesn't just take care of Staff's relationship with the player base. It's not just about explaining policy, regulating the players' activities, and offering a friendly, polite way to interact with Staff. PR Staff also takes care of player-vs-player disputes and any out of character conflicts that might mar or devalue the roleplay going on in the game. We're here to make the game a nice, friendly place to be in out of character. If your character is an asshole, that's fine -- but we won't tolerate it out of character. If you have a problem with another player or a Staff member, please take it up with a PR Staffer. If your problem is with the PR Head, please send an @mail to the other three Head Staffers.
Staff Policies
Job Response Times
Eldritch Staff will make every effort to respond to player requests within the allotted time for the specific job. If they cannot complete the task in the allotted time, they will at least update the requestor on the status. The following response times for jobs are as follows:
- Bug: One week for initial update on the job. Updates weekly until fixed.
- Build: 72 hours to respond to the request with a request for changes or with the project ready for descing in the Build Nexus. 24 additional hours to respond after requested changes are made.
- Pitch: 72 Hours to respond, ONLY if a response is requested.
- Request: Research requests will be responded to within 72 hours. Scene requests will be responded to within 72 hours although the scene may not take place until later. These are on a first come, first served basis. Stat requests will be responded to within 48 hours for denials or requests for supporting logs, or 72 hours to complete them if approved.
- Typo: 48 hours to respond.
Characters
Eldritch Staff maintain the same rights as other players regarding having PCs . Their PCs also must abide by the same rules and regulations. Staff also may employ any of the staff-created NPCs for plot purposes, or even just to step in and add atmosphere to a scene. They do not receive XP for use of NPCs.
Plots and XP
Staff run plots do not garner XP for the PCs of staffers. However, they have the same rights as every player to run plots as a Narrator with their PCs, and earn XP that way.
Players may give staff members coded cookies to thank a staffer for their work. These cookies will grant small amounts of XP (considerably smaller than a +vote) for the staffer to use for their PCs. This is to compensate them for their decrease in RP time due to their voluntary work on the game.
