The Grid
The Eldritch MUSH grid is made up of a variety of interconnected rooms. To eliminate the need for excess rooms which often hinder navigation, we have set up our grid in a series of neighborhoods, rather than building individual streets. These neighborhoods are like districts; geographical areas which have a distinct flavor to them. There are two main areas of the grid, Topside, which is the general above ground area, and the Underground, which is a secret city under the surface where supernaturals walk freely. For navigation commands, type +help +grid. That will provide a list of commands to view maps, room directories, and commands to jump to rooms, join players in their location, and summon players to your location. Note: The underground has hidden exits to it in several topside rooms. These exits are aliased to D for down and U for up, but should only be used by characters with IC knowledge of the Underground and how to get to it.
In each neighborhood there is a description of the area. By typing +dir in a neighborhood room you will see a list of available exits. Typing the exit number will take you to that location. In non-neighborhood rooms, exits are readily visible, with the command to take them in <>s. Type the command to take that exit.
Mail System
Rhost MUSH supports two different versions of mail, PennMUSH and Brandy Mailer. When you first create a username on the game you are prompted to choose one, or you can change that at any later time with @toggle me=BRANDY_MAIL or @toggle me=PENN_MAIL. See help brandy_mail or help penn_mail for some specific information, but to get you started here are some basic commands.
To send Brandy mail use: mail (or @mail) <player-list>=<subject>. Then use -<txt> for the message, and send it with --. To send PENN mail use: mail <player-list>=<subject>/<text>. It will send when you hit enter.
To read Brandy mail use: @mail for a list of your messages, then mail (or @mail) # to read a specific message. To read PENN mail use: mail/status for a list of messages, then mail # to read a specific message.
Channels
Channels are used for real time OOC (Out of Character) chat on the game. These channels, unless otherwise specified, are completely OOC. To see what channels are available for you to join type @clist. Channels you are already on can be seen with comlist.
To add a channel alias type addcom <alias>=<Channel Name>. The alias is what you will type in front of your message when you speak on the channel. For example, you might use addcom pub=Public. The Channel name must be exact and is case sensitive. To delete a channel alias use delcom <alias>. <alias> on or <alias> off can be used to add or remove yourself from hearing a channel, without removing your alias.
To speak on a channel use: <alias> <text> to say something prepended with <Character Name> says," or <alias><:> <text> for a pose prepended with <Character Name>. To set a title that appears before your character name when commenting on a channel use comtitle <channel>=<title>. For more extensive command info use comhelp.
Myrddin's BBS system
Myrddin's BBS system is a bulletin board system which allows players and staff to post messages for public viewing (or by viewing restricted to a specific group). This is handy because it reaches a group without needing to type in all their names to mail it to them, and has less risk of being accidentally deleted or lost by the recipients due to timing out.
+bbread will show you a list of boards you have access to. +bbread <board #> will show you a list of posts on an individual board. +bbread <board #>/<message #> reads a specific message on a specific board. +bbnew will show you the next newest post on boards in order of board number and message number.
+bbpost <board #>/<title> will begin writing a post to a specific board. +bb <text> adds to the body of the message. +bbproof will review your message in progress. +bbtoss will abort your message in progress. +bbpost will post the message you are currently writing. For more information, type +help bb on the game.
Anomaly Jobs
Eldritch MUSH uses the Anomaly Jobs system for staff to keep track of tasks. As a player, you can submit a variety of tasks to staff, from notifying them of bugs and typos, to pitching plots, making research or stat requests, or asking to have a build project started.
To submit a job use +<jobtype> <title>=<description> where jobtype is one of the following: bug, pitch, request, typo, or build. Your title should be descriptive enough for staff to recognize your job from a list of just the titles. Include as much information in the description as possible. For the sort of info, check +help jobs <jobtype>.
To review a list of your current jobs type +myjobs. To review a specific job use +myjob #. To add something to an open job of yours use +myjob/add <job #>=<comment>. When a job is completed you will receive an automated mail from the system.
